This site is meant to be a nexus for all ham radio high frequency (HF) digital mode operators who are within near vertical incidence skywave range (100 miles) miles) of the Coeur d’Alene/ Spokane area and whom are interested in fomenting and practicing the following:

  • nvis skills and techniques pertaining to nvis operation
  • nvis antenna construction, installation and testing
  • digital modes (winlink, js8call, fsq, etc.)
  • nvis propagation path testing
  • QRP/mobile/low power consumption
  • creation of local/regional nvis hf digital modes operator network

The goal of this site is to promote nvis digital communication networking for the inland northwest in hopes of creating a network of like minded and skillful nvis station operators who, by virtue of their interest in the topic, skill, equipment, and varied location within the inland empire, naturally create a robust alternative to local communications.

Even though there is currently no specific everyday community use for this robust alternative to local communications, there may be one day. The specific regional knowledge gained by amateur local operators experimenting with nvis in the specific area of the inland northwest could be directly applied in case of an emcomm incident whether interacting with/for ares, races, or members of the local/regional community.
